OET (OET-LV) And_when_shaved_he DOM his/its_head and_it_was from_the_end/extremity[fn] days to_days when he_shaved if/because it_was_heavy on/upon/above_him/it and_he_shaved_it and_he_weighed DOM the_hair_of his/its_head two_hundred shekels by_the_weight_of the_king.
14:26 OSHB note: We read one or more accents in L differently than BHS. Often this notation indicates a typographical error in BHS.
OET (OET-RV) He had his hair cut once a year when it got too heavy on him, and when the hair was weighed using standard weights, it would be over two kilograms.

(Some words not found in UHB: and,when,shaved,he DOM his/its=head and=it_was from_the=end/extremity days to,days which/who cut that/for/because/then/when heavy on/upon/above=him/it and,he,shaved_it and,he_weighed DOM hair_of his/its=head two_hundreds shekels by,the_weight_of of,the_king )
If it would be more natural in your language, you may want to put the initial statement about Absalom shaving his hair with the information about him weighing his hair. Alternate translation: [At the end of years to years he would shave, because it was heavy on him, so he would shave it. And when he shaved his head and weighed the hair of his head, it weighed 200 shekels by the stone of the king]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
מִקֵּ֨ץ יָמִ֤ים ׀ לַיָּמִים֙
(Some words not found in UHB: and,when,shaved,he DOM his/its=head and=it_was from_the=end/extremity days to,days which/who cut that/for/because/then/when heavy on/upon/above=him/it and,he,shaved_it and,he_weighed DOM hair_of his/its=head two_hundreds shekels by,the_weight_of of,the_king )
The author is using at the end of years to years as a common expression of his culture to mean “at the end of each year.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [at the end of each year]
Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns
כִּֽי־כָבֵ֥ד עָלָ֖יו וְגִלְּח֑וֹ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,when,shaved,he DOM his/its=head and=it_was from_the=end/extremity days to,days which/who cut that/for/because/then/when heavy on/upon/above=him/it and,he,shaved_it and,he_weighed DOM hair_of his/its=head two_hundreds shekels by,the_weight_of of,the_king )
The pronoun it refers in the first instance to Absalom’s hair and in the second instance to his head. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [because his hair heavy on him, so he would shave his head]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
מָאתַ֥יִם שְׁקָלִ֖ים בְּאֶ֥בֶן הַמֶּֽלֶךְ
two_hundreds (Some words not found in UHB: and,when,shaved,he DOM his/its=head and=it_was from_the=end/extremity days to,days which/who cut that/for/because/then/when heavy on/upon/above=him/it and,he,shaved_it and,he_weighed DOM hair_of his/its=head two_hundreds shekels by,the_weight_of of,the_king )
The author is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [he found that it weighed 200 shekels by the stone of the king]
Note 5 topic: translate-bweight
בְּאֶ֥בֶן הַמֶּֽלֶךְ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,when,shaved,he DOM his/its=head and=it_was from_the=end/extremity days to,days which/who cut that/for/because/then/when heavy on/upon/above=him/it and,he,shaved_it and,he_weighed DOM hair_of his/its=head two_hundreds shekels by,the_weight_of of,the_king )
See the discussion of this phrase in the Introduction to this chapter for an explanation of what it might mean and for suggestions as to how you might represent it in your translation.

OET (OET-RV) He had his hair cut once a year when it got too heavy on him, and when the hair was weighed using standard weights, it would be over two kilograms.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
