TSNTyndale Study Notes:

23:1-49 This chapter, like ch 16, gives the history of the northern and southern kingdoms of Israel and Judah in the form of an extended metaphor. It graphically depicts Samaria and Jerusalem, the capital cities, as two immoral women. The metaphor emphasizes that their judgment was inevitable and well-deserved.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / you

(Occurrence 0) you sat

(Some words not found in UHB: and,sat on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in couch stately and,table spread before,face/front,it and,incense,my and,oil,my placed on,which )

Here the word “you” switches to singular and refers to only one sister, but the situation is probably the same for both sisters. If one sister must be specified in your language, refer to Oholibah here.

(Occurrence 0) my incense and my oil

(Some words not found in UHB: and,sat on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in couch stately and,table spread before,face/front,it and,incense,my and,oil,my placed on,which )

These are items used in worship to Yahweh.
