TSNTyndale Study Notes:

23:1-49 This chapter, like ch 16, gives the history of the northern and southern kingdoms of Israel and Judah in the form of an extended metaphor. It graphically depicts Samaria and Jerusalem, the capital cities, as two immoral women. The metaphor emphasizes that their judgment was inevitable and well-deserved.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

(Occurrence 0) The word of Yahweh came

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_was word YHWH to=me to=say )

This is an idiom that is used to introduce something that God told his prophets or his people. See how you translated this in Ezekiel 3:16. Alternate translation: “Yahweh spoke this message” or “Yahweh spoke these words”
