Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible—click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for Bible-translators and others doing comparisons of different translations—the older translations are further down the page (so you can read up from the bottom to trace the English translation history). The OET segments on this page are still early looks into the drafted texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible—please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [Yahweh says that he will abandon the remnant of his inheritance, and he will give them into the hand of their enemies. And they will become spoil and plunder for all of their enemies]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
נַחֲלָתִ֔י
my_inheritance_of,my
Yahweh is speaking of the people of Israel as if they were something that he had inherited as a lasting possession. He is referring to the Israelites as the people who were supposed to belong to him perpetually. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. If you have already translated the book of 1 Samuel, see how you translated the similar expression in [1 Samuel 10:1](../1sa/10/01.md). Alternate translation: [my people, who were supposed to belong to me perpetually]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
וּנְתַתִּ֖ים בְּיַ֣ד אֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֑ם
(Some words not found in UHB: and,I_will_abandon DOM remnant_of my_inheritance_of,my and,I,will_give_them in,the_hand_of their_enemies_of,their and=they_will_be (into),spoil and,(into),plunder to/from=all/each/any/every enemies_of,their )
See how you translated the similar expression in [3:10](../03/10.md). Alternate translation: [and I will allow their enemies to have power over them]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet
וְהָי֥וּ לְבַ֛ז וְלִמְשִׁסָּ֖ה לְכָל־אֹיְבֵיהֶֽם
and=they_will_be (into),spoil (Some words not found in UHB: and,I_will_abandon DOM remnant_of my_inheritance_of,my and,I,will_give_them in,the_hand_of their_enemies_of,their and=they_will_be (into),spoil and,(into),plunder to/from=all/each/any/every enemies_of,their )
The terms spoil and plunder mean similar things. Yahweh is using the two terms together for emphasis. If it would be clearer for your readers, you could express the emphasis with a single phrase. Alternate translation: [And all of their enemies will plunder them completely]
