OET (OET-LV)And the prison_guard reported the messages to the Paulos:
that The officers /Have/_sent_out, in_order_that you_all_may_be_sent_away.
Therefore now having_come_out, be_going in peace.

OET (OET-RV)So the officer told Paul, “The magistrates sent these officials to order that you two to be released.”

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

τοὺς λόγους

the words

Luke is using the term words to mean the message that the officers whom the magistrates sent communicated by using words. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “the message”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / imperative

ἐξελθόντες, πορεύεσθε ἐν εἰρήνῃ

/having/_come_out /be/_going in peace

The word go is an imperative, but it communicates permission rather than a command. Use a form in your language that communicates permission. Alternate translation: “you may come out of the jail and go in peace”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

πορεύεσθε ἐν εἰρήνῃ

/be/_going in peace

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of peace, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “go peacefully” or “go without being concerned that the authorities will trouble you any further”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

16:13-36 Luke gives his readers cameos of three lives touched by the Good News in Philippi: a wealthy woman (16:14-15), an exploited slave girl (16:16-21), and a middle-class officer (16:23-36).

Therefore now having_come_out, be_going in peace.

OET (OET-RV)So the officer told Paul, “The magistrates sent these officials to order that you two to be released.”

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
