OET (OET-LV) And_seek from_there DOM YHWH god_of_your and_find if/because seek_him in_all heart_of_your and_on/over_all soul_of_your.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
מִשָּׁ֛ם
from=there
The word there refers to all the other nations where Yahweh will force the Israelites to live if they disobey him. You could include this information if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [from those nations]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּ֥ם מִשָּׁ֛ם אֶת־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ וּמָצָ֑אתָ כִּ֣י תִדְרְשֶׁ֔נּוּ
and,seek from=there DOM YHWH God_of,your and,find that/for/because/then/when seek,him
Here Moses is speaking of praying to and knowing Yahweh as if one could physically search for and seek him and find him in a specific place. As God, Yahweh is everywhere and cannot be limited to a single space. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [And from there you will pray to Yahweh your God, and he will answer when you appeal to him]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
בְּכָל־לְבָבְךָ֖ וּבְכָל־נַפְשֶֽׁךָ
in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all soul_of,your
Here the words heart and soul refer to a person’s will and desire to do something. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression from your language or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [with all your will and with all your desire]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet
בְּכָל־לְבָבְךָ֖ וּבְכָל־נַפְשֶֽׁךָ
in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all soul_of,your
The terms heart and soul mean similar things. Moses is using the two terms together for emphasis. If it would be clearer for your readers, you could express the emphasis with a single phrase. Alternate translation: [with all of your will]
4:1-40 Moses’ lengthy exhortation to the Israelite community was based on the people’s recent failures and his anticipation of what lay ahead in Canaan.
OET (OET-LV) And_seek from_there DOM YHWH god_of_your and_find if/because seek_him in_all heart_of_your and_on/over_all soul_of_your.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
