Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / hypo
וּפֶן
and,not
Moses uses the word lest to introduce a hypothetical condition as a warning. Use a natural form in your language for introducing a situation that could happen. Alternate translation: [And in case]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / youcrowd
תִּשָּׂ֨א עֵינֶ֜יךָ & וְֽ֠רָאִיתָ & וְנִדַּחְתָּ֛ וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִ֥יתָ & וַעֲבַדְתָּ֑ם & אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙
lift eyes_of,your & and,see & and,led_astray and,bow_down & and,serve,them & God_of,your
Even though Moses is speaking to a group of people, you and your are singular in this verse. If the singular forms of these pronouns would not be natural in your language, you could use the plural forms in your translation.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
תִּשָּׂ֨א עֵינֶ֜יךָ
lift eyes_of,your
Here, you lift up your eyes is a common expression that means “you look.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have this meaning or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [you turn your eyes] or [you look]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
כֹּ֚ל צְבָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם
all host_of the=heavens
Here, all the multitude of the heavens is a common expression that means “all the heavenly bodies in the sky.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have this meaning or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [all the heavenly bodies in the sky]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
וְנִדַּחְתָּ֛
and,led_astray
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [and let them seduce you]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וְנִדַּחְתָּ֛
and,led_astray
The implication is that the Israelites might be seduced to worship the sun, moon, or stars and commit the sin of idolatry. You could include this information if it would be helpful for your readers. Alternate translation: [and be seduced to idolatry]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
אֲשֶׁ֨ר חָלַ֜ק יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙ אֹתָ֔ם לְכֹל֙ הָֽעַמִּ֔ים תַּ֖חַת כָּל־הַשָּׁמָֽיִם
which/who allotted YHWH God_of,your DOM=them to=all/each/any/every the,peoples below/instead_of all/each/any/every the=heavens
Moses speaks of the heavenly bodies as if they were small objects that Yahweh allotted and gave out to the people groups. Moses means that all people groups are able to see the sun, moon, and the stars. Alternate translation: [those which Yahweh your God has allowed all the peoples under all the heavens to see]
4:19 forces of heaven: This phrase refers to the stars and other heavenly bodies, which, like earthly creations, were thought to embody or represent deities. Instead, they are servants of God, named by him to carry out their duties of marking the times and seasons (Gen 1:14-19; Isa 40:26).
• The Lord your God gave them: Rather than worshiping these heavenly bodies, the people of Israel were to recognize that God’s creation was made, among other reasons, to serve humankind (Gen 1:28).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
