uW Translation Notes:
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
נֵרְדָ֣ה
let_us_descend
See how you translated the expression go down in [10:8](../10/08.md). Alternate translation: [Let us go]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
כָּל־הַטּ֥וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ עֲשֵׂ֑ה
all/each/any/every the,good in/on/at/with,eyes_of,you make/work/create/deal
See how you translated this expression in [1:18](../01/18.md). Alternate translation: [Do what you think is best]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
נִקְרְבָ֥ה & אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִֽים
draw_near & to/towards the=ʼElohīm
The priest is speaking of consulting God as if it were physically approaching him. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Let us consult God]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
הֲלֹ֖ם
here
The priest means that they should consult God before taking any further action. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [before we do anything else] or [before we decide to pursue the Philistines]

Tyndale Study Notes:
14:1-52 Saul’s behavior in this chapter further justifies his dismissal as king (13:8-14; see also ch 15). Saul was alienated from both Samuel and his heroic son Jonathan. Chapter 14 anticipates the significant role that Jonathan played in the transition from Saul’s kingship to David’s.
