OET (OET-RV) He sent them out in three groups under Yoav, Abishai (son of Yoav’s brother Tseruyah) and Ittai (the Gittite), then promised that he’d also join them in battle.

A third means one part out of three equal parts. Represent this in the way your language and culture characteristically would.

Here, hand represents the control of a person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or state the meaning plainly, in this case and for the same expression as applied to Abishai and Ittai. Alternate translation: [under the command of Joab]

The author is identifying Abishai, not Zeruiah, as the brother of Joab. Be sure that this is clear in your translation.

David is repeating forms of the verb go out in order to intensify his expression of the idea that it conveys. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the intensification. Alternate translation: [I will certainly go out, I too]

David is stating the pronoun I separately, even though the verb translated as I will go out already includes this meaning. He is doing that to indicate that his actions will be comparable to those of the Israelite soldiers and commanders. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing that David is indicating that his actions will be comparable. It may not be necessary to represent the separately stated pronoun explicitly. Alternate translation: [And for my own part, going out, I will go out] or [And for my own part, I will certainly go out]

OET (OET-RV) He sent them out in three groups under Yoav, Abishai (son of Yoav’s brother Tseruyah) and Ittai (the Gittite), then promised that he’d also join them in battle.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
