OET (OET-RV) But Ahimaats begged Yoav again, “Regardless of what might happen, please, let me also run myself after the Cushite.”
¶ “Why would you do that, my boy?” Yoav asked. “There won’t be any reward for bad news.”

It might seem that saying both again and resumed would be extra information that would not be natural to express in your language. If so, you could shorten this. Alternate translation: [And Ahimaaz, the son of Zadok, resumed and said]

וַיֹּ֨סֶף ע֜וֹד אֲחִימַ֤עַץ בֶּן־צָדוֹק֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

It might seem that saying both again and resumed would be to present extra information that would not be natural in your language. If so, you can just use one of these terms. Alternate translation: [And Ahimaaz, the son of Zadok, said again]

אָרֻֽצָה־נָּ֥א גַם־אָ֖נִי
run (Some words not found in UHB: and,he_repeated again/more ʼAḩīmaˊaʦ son_of Tsādōq/(Zadok) and=he/it_said to/towards Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) and=let_it_be what run please also/even me after the,Cushite and=he/it_said Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) to/for=what this you(ms) run my_son_of,my and,for,you not reward get )
Ahimaaz is stating the pronoun I separately, even though the verb translated as let me run already includes this meaning. He is doing that to indicate that his action would be comparable to that of the Cushite. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing that Ahimaaz is indicating that his action would be comparable. It may not be necessary to represent the separately stated pronoun explicitly. Alternate translation: [please let me run, for my own part]

לָֽמָּה־זֶּ֞ה אַתָּ֥ה רָץ֙ בְּנִ֔י וּלְכָ֖ה אֵין־בְּשׂוֹרָ֥ה מֹצֵֽאת
(Some words not found in UHB: and,he_repeated again/more ʼAḩīmaˊaʦ son_of Tsādōq/(Zadok) and=he/it_said to/towards Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) and=let_it_be what run please also/even me after the,Cushite and=he/it_said Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) to/for=what this you(ms) run my_son_of,my and,for,you not reward get )
Joab is using the question form to rebuke Ahimaaz for wanting to run. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [You should not be running, my son, when for you there is no news finding!]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
לָֽמָּה־זֶּ֞ה אַתָּ֥ה רָץ֙
(Some words not found in UHB: and,he_repeated again/more ʼAḩīmaˊaʦ son_of Tsādōq/(Zadok) and=he/it_said to/towards Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) and=let_it_be what run please also/even me after the,Cushite and=he/it_said Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) to/for=what this you(ms) run my_son_of,my and,for,you not reward get )
Joab is using Why is this, you running as a common expression of his culture to mean “Why would you run?” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [For what reason would you run]
Note 6 topic: writing-politeness
בְּנִ֔י
(Some words not found in UHB: and,he_repeated again/more ʼAḩīmaˊaʦ son_of Tsādōq/(Zadok) and=he/it_said to/towards Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) and=let_it_be what run please also/even me after the,Cushite and=he/it_said Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) to/for=what this you(ms) run my_son_of,my and,for,you not reward get )
Joab is referring to Ahimaaz with an affectionate expression. Use a comparable title or expression from your language and culture for addressing someone affectionately. Alternate translation: [young man]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
אֵין־בְּשׂוֹרָ֥ה מֹצֵֽאת
not (Some words not found in UHB: and,he_repeated again/more ʼAḩīmaˊaʦ son_of Tsādōq/(Zadok) and=he/it_said to/towards Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) and=let_it_be what run please also/even me after the,Cushite and=he/it_said Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) to/for=what this you(ms) run my_son_of,my and,for,you not reward get )
Joab is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [there is no news finding a reward]
Note 8 topic: figures-of-speech / personification
אֵין־בְּשׂוֹרָ֥ה מֹצֵֽאת
not (Some words not found in UHB: and,he_repeated again/more ʼAḩīmaˊaʦ son_of Tsādōq/(Zadok) and=he/it_said to/towards Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) and=let_it_be what run please also/even me after the,Cushite and=he/it_said Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) to/for=what this you(ms) run my_son_of,my and,for,you not reward get )
Joab is speaking of news as if it were a living thing that could find something. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [there is no news for which King David would reward you]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
