Note 1 topic: writing-endofstory
καὶ
and
This verse is the end of the whole story of how the lame man was healed and how Peter and John were arrested as a result. Luke uses the word translated And to introduce information about what happened after the story as a result of the events within the story itself. Your language may have its own way of indicating how such information relates to a story.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
ἐν ᾧ ἦσαν συνηγμένοι
in which ˱they˲_were /having_been/_gathered_together
If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this with an active form. Alternate translation: [where they had gathered together]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
ἐσαλεύθη
/was/_shaken
If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this with an active form. Alternate translation: [shook]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
ἐπλήσθησαν ἅπαντες τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος
/were/_filled all the Holy Spirit
If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this with an active form. See how you translated the same expression in 2:4. Alternate translation: [the Holy Spirit filled them all]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
ἐπλήσθησαν ἅπαντες τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος
/were/_filled all the Holy Spirit
Luke is speaking as if the believers were containers that the Holy Spirit filled. Alternate translation: [the Holy Spirit inspired them all]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
τὸν λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ
the word ¬the ˱of˲_God
Luke is using the term word to mean the message that God wanted the believers to share by using words. Alternate translation: [the message from God]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
μετὰ παρρησίας
with boldness
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word boldness, you could express the same idea with an adverb such as “boldly.” Alternate translation: [boldly]
4:23-31 The believers heard the report that their leaders had been threatened and commanded never again to speak about Jesus (4:18). The Christian movement was clearly under attack from the religious authorities, so they united in prayer. They turned to God, placing their troubles before him and asking him to make them bold in speaking the message and to divinely confirm its truth with signs and wonders. God dramatically answered their request.
OET (OET-LV) And having_been_besought of_them, the place in which they_were having_been_gathered_together was_shaken, and all were_filled the holy spirit, and they_were_speaking the message of_ the _god with boldness.
OET (OET-RV) As they finished their requests, the place where they had met was shaken and all of them were filled with the holy spirit, and they went out and boldly proclaimed God’s message.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
