OET (OET-LV)And_now remove DOM the_gods the_foreign which in/on/at/with_midst_you_all and_incline DOM hearts_your_all’s to YHWH the_god of_Yisrāʼēl/(Israel).

OET (OET-RV)Then you all go right now and remove the foreign gods that you already have, and turn your hearts towards Yahweh, the God of Israel,” said Yehoshua.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וְהַטּוּ֙ אֶת־לְבַבְכֶ֔ם אֶל־יְהוָ֖ה

and,incline DOM hearts,your_all's to/towards YHWH

Deciding to obey Yahweh only is spoken of as turning their heart towards him. Here “heart” represents the whole person. In this case, “heart” is plural because it refers to all the Israelites as a single group. However, it may be best to translate it in the plural since “your” is plural. Alternate translation: “turn yourselves to Yahweh” or “decide to obey Yahweh” (See also: figs-synecdoche and figs-you)

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

24:23 Some Israelites had continued to worship idols since they left Egypt and after experiencing forty years of God’s love and power. Joshua directed them to destroy the idols and turn their hearts to the Lord to serve him alone.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
