Baptizans.

In baptismo also Yoannis manifestatur humilitas Christi, which it_is impletio totius justitiæ; like because opus it_is Christum nasci and mori, so and baptizari. When/But_if because himself who not/no eget a servo baptizatur, not/no dedignentur quantumcunque sapientes and sancti a Domino baptizari, without quo permanent in peccatis. Baptizans. But not/no solus, ne baptisma Yoannis sanctius and mayus, in quo God human baptizatus it_is, videretur baptismo Christi, in quo homines baptizantur. Baptizantur however alii a Yoanne, as use baptizandi præparet road baptismo Christi.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

1:19-51 John’s Gospel gives limited attention to John the Baptist compared to the synoptic Gospels (Matt 3:1-6; Mark 1:2-6; Luke 1:1-24, 57-80; 3:1-13). Yet the apostle John wants us to see that John the Baptist correctly identified and exalted Jesus. John the Baptist’s disciples leave him and follow Jesus; Jesus took over the ministry John began, increasing as John decreased (John 3:30).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns

and_I not /had/_known him

Here, him refers to Jesus. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this explicitly. Alternate translation: “And I did not know Jesus”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

and_I not /had/_known him

Here John means that he did not know previously that Jesus was the Messiah. It does not mean that he didn’t know who Jesus was, because Jesus was his cousin. If this might confuse your readers, you could express the meaning explicitly. Alternate translation: “And I did not know that he was the Messiah”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

in_order_that /may_be/_revealed ¬the ˱to˲_Israel because_of this

Here John uses the redundant words so that and because of this to emphasize the reason why he was baptizing people. If it would be helpful in your language, you could combine these phrases and indicate the emphasis. Alternate translation: “for the exact purpose that he might be revealed to Israel”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

¬the ˱to˲_Israel

Here John uses the name of the nation, Israel, to represent the people who belong to that nation. If this might confuse your readers, you could express the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “to the Israelites”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

because_of this

Here, this refers to the revealing of the Messiah to Israel that is mentioned in the previous clause. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this explicitly. Alternate translation: “because he might be revealed”
