TSNTyndale Study Notes:

9:35 The voice from the cloud recalls God’s voice at Jesus’ baptism (3:22).
• My Chosen One alludes to Isa 42:1, identifying Jesus as the suffering servant of the Lord.
• Listen to him is from Deut 18:15, identifying Jesus as “the prophet like Moses” (see Acts 3:22; 7:37).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

φωνὴ ἐγένετο ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης

/a/_voice became out_of the cloud

Luke expects readers to understand that this voice could only have belonged to God. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could state that explicitly. Alternate translation: [God spoke to them from the cloud]

Note 2 topic: guidelines-sonofgodprinciples

ὁ Υἱός μου

the Son ˱of˲_me

Son is an important title for Jesus, the Son of God.

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

ὁ ἐκλελεγμένος

the the_‹one› /having_been/_chosen

If it would be helpful in your language, you could express this with an active form, and you could indicate who has done the action. Alternate translation: [the one I have chosen]
