BrTrEvery one that touches the carcase of the person of a man, if he should have died, and the other not have been purified, has defiled the tabernacle of the Lord: that soul shall be cut off from Israel, because the water of sprinkling has not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

ULTEvery one who touches a dead body, a human person who has died, and does not purify himself, makes the dwelling of Yahweh unclean, and that person shall be cut off from Israel. Because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him, he will be unclean; his uncleanness is still on him.

USTAll those who touch a corpse, and do not perform in the correct way the ritual to become acceptable to me again, defile Yahweh’s sacred tent. They will no longer be permitted to live among the Israelite people. The water to remove the guilt of sin was not sprinkled on them, so they continue to be unacceptable to me.

BSBAnyone who touches a human corpse and fails to purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the LORD. That person must be cut off from Israel. He remains unclean, because the water of purification has not been sprinkled on him, and his uncleanness is still on him.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

19:13 The impurity caused by contact with a corpse was especially dangerous since a ceremonially defiled person would defile the Lord’s Tabernacle (cp. Lev 15:31). This was grounds for being cut off from the community of Israel (cp. Num 9:13; Exod 12:15; Lev 7:20-21; 17:4-14; 20:17-18).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וְנִכְרְתָ֛ה הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

and,cut_off the=living_creatures the=that from,Israel

Here the phrase be cut off means to be disowned and sent away. See how you translated this in Numbers 9:13. Alternate translation: “And that person must be sent away” or “And you must send that person away”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

(Occurrence 0) the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him

(Some words not found in UHB: all/each/any/every the,touches in/on/at/with,corpse in/on/at/with,body the=humankind which/who died and=not purify DOM tabernacle YHWH defiles and,cut_off the=living_creatures the=that from,Israel that/for/because/then/when water impurity not sprinkled on/upon/above=him/it unclean will_belong again/more uncleanness,his in=him/it )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “no one sprinkled the water for impurity on him”

(Occurrence 0) the water for impurity

(Some words not found in UHB: all/each/any/every the,touches in/on/at/with,corpse in/on/at/with,body the=humankind which/who died and=not purify DOM tabernacle YHWH defiles and,cut_off the=living_creatures the=that from,Israel that/for/because/then/when water impurity not sprinkled on/upon/above=him/it unclean will_belong again/more uncleanness,his in=him/it )

Alternate translation: “the water that is sprinkled on impure things to make them pure” or “the water for making things pure”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

(Occurrence 0) He will remain unclean; his uncleanness will remain on him

(Some words not found in UHB: all/each/any/every the,touches in/on/at/with,corpse in/on/at/with,body the=humankind which/who died and=not purify DOM tabernacle YHWH defiles and,cut_off the=living_creatures the=that from,Israel that/for/because/then/when water impurity not sprinkled on/upon/above=him/it unclean will_belong again/more uncleanness,his in=him/it )

These two phrases mean basically the same thing and are combined for emphasis.
