Note 1 topic: writing-quotations
וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֣ם לַעֲשׂ֔וֹת כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֛ה יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם אֶתְכֶ֑ם לֹ֥א תָסֻ֖רוּ יָמִ֥ין וּשְׂמֹֽאל׃
and,careful for=doing just=as commanded YHWH God_of,your(pl) DOM,you(pl) not turn_aside right (Some words not found in UHB: and,careful for=doing just=as commanded YHWH God_of,your(pl) DOM,you(pl) not turn_aside right and,left )
Moses has finished quoting what Yahweh said. This verse continues Moses’ speech to the Israelites. Consider natural ways of reintroducing a speaker of direct quotations in your language.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
לֹ֥א תָסֻ֖רוּ יָמִ֥ין וּשְׂמֹֽאל
not turn_aside right and,left
Here, turn aside, right nor left is an idiom that means “disobey.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use an idiom from your language that does have this meaning or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Do not get off track] or [Do not disobey them]
5:1-32 The rest of the covenant laws expand and comment upon the Ten Commandments (5:6-21), on which they are based. Moses had first given the Ten Commandments to the people of Israel nearly forty years earlier (Exod 20:2-17).
OET (OET-LV) And_careful for_doing just_as he_has_commanded YHWH god_of_your(pl) DOM_you(pl) not you(pl)_must_turn_aside right_hand and_left.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
