OET (OET-LV) And the slaves and the attendants had_stood, having_made a_charcoal_fire, because it_was cold, and they_were_warming themselves, and the Petros was also with them having_stood and warming himself.
OET (OET-RV) Meanwhile the servants and attendants had made a fire and were standing around it warming themselves, and Peter also went and stood there to warm himself.
Note 1 topic: writing-background
In this verse John interrupts the main storyline in order to provide some background information about the people who were warming themselves around the fire. Use the natural form in your language for expressing background information.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure
ἵστήκεισαν δὲ οἱ δοῦλοι καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται, ἀνθρακιὰν πεποιηκότες, ὅτι ψῦχος ἦν, καὶ ἐθερμαίνοντο
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: εἱστήκεισαν δὲ οἱ δοῦλοι καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται ἀνθρακιὰν πεποιηκότες ὅτι ψῦχος ἦν καὶ ἐθερμαίνοντο ἦν δὲ καὶ ὁ Πέτρος μετʼ αὐτῶν ἑστὼς καὶ θερμαινόμενος)
If it would be more natural in your language, you could change the order of these clauses. Alternate translation: [Now because it was cold, the servants and the officers had made a charcoal fire and were standing there, warming themselves]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
οἱ δοῦλοι
the slaves
Here, the servants refers to the personal servants of the high priest. If it would be more natural in your language, you could state this explicitly. Alternate translation: [the servants of the high priest]
18:1-40 After completing his farewell in the upper room (13:31–17:26), Jesus left the city and entered a garden just east of Jerusalem to pray. Here he was arrested, taken under guard into the city, and interrogated by the Jewish leaders. The climactic “time” that Jesus referred to repeatedly throughout the Gospel (see 2:4; see also study note on 12:23) was now at hand.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
