If it would be more natural in your language, you may want to put the information about how Yahweh spoke in the hand of Moses with the information about how Eleazar was instructed before indicating that the plating would serve as a memorial to prevent unauthorized people from offering incense. Alternate translation: [just as Yahweh spoke in the hand of Moses to him. They became a memorial for the sons of Israel, so that a strange man, who is not from the seed of Aaron, shall not come near to cause incense to become smoke to the face of Yahweh, and he shall not be like Korah and like his congregation]

אִ֣ישׁ זָ֗ר

(ʼiysh zār)

Here, strange describes a person as if he were a foreigner when he actually is simply someone who is not authorized to perform the duties of a priest. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. See how you translated the similar phrase “strange fire” in [Numbers 3:4](../../num/03/04.md). Alternate translation: [an unauthorized man]

מִ⁠זֶּ֤רַע אַהֲרֹן֙

(mi⁠zzeraˊ ʼahₐron)

Here, the author is speaking as if Aaron’s descendants were actually his seed. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [from the offspring of Aaron]

לִ⁠פְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה

(li⁠fənēy yəhvāh)

Here, to the face of Yahweh represents being in front of Yahweh. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [before Yahweh]

וְ⁠לֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֤ה

(və⁠loʼ-yihyeh)

The phrase and he shall not be indicates that what follows is a result of what came before. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that what follows is a result of what came before. Alternate translation: [lest he be] or [and so he shall not be]

The point of this comparison is that just as Korah and his congregation were punished for approaching God inappropriately, so would anyone else be who violated this command. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [punished as Korah and his congregation were]

The author is using the possessive form to describe a congregation that is characterized by following Korah. If a speaker of your language would not use the possessive form for this, you could express this idea in another way. See how you translated the similar form in [verse 5](../16/05.md). Alternate translation: [the people who joined him]

בְּ⁠יַד־מֹשֶׁ֖ה

(bə⁠yad-mosheh)

The author is using in the hand of as a common expression of the culture to mean “under the supervision of” or “through.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly.
