OET (OET-RV) I gave you the house that belonged to your master, as well as his wives. I made you king over both Yisrael and Yehudah. And if that wasn’t enough, I’ve given you more and more.

Nathan is continuing to speak a message from Yahweh to David. If, in the previous verse, you started translating this so that there was not a quotation within a quotation, you can continue doing that here and through [verse 12](../12/12.md). Alternate translation: [He says that he gave … and he gave … then he would have added]

The author is using the term house by association to mean all the people and property associated with a person. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [the property and possessions of]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
וְאֶת־נְשֵׁ֤י אֲדֹנֶ֨יךָ֙ בְּחֵיקֶ֔ךָ
and=DOM (Some words not found in UHB: and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your and=DOM women/wives_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your in,bosom_of,your and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of Yisrael and=Yəhūdāh/(Yihudah) and=if too_little and,I_will_add to,you like,those and,like,those )
Yahweh is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [and I gave the wives of your master into your lap]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism
וְאֶת־נְשֵׁ֤י אֲדֹנֶ֨יךָ֙ בְּחֵיקֶ֔ךָ
and=DOM (Some words not found in UHB: and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your and=DOM women/wives_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your in,bosom_of,your and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of Yisrael and=Yəhūdāh/(Yihudah) and=if too_little and,I_will_add to,you like,those and,like,those )
Yahweh is referring to sexual intimacy in a polite way by using the phrase into your lap. Depending on what is helpful in your language, you could use a polite way of referring to this in your language, or you could state this plainly. Alternate translation: [and I allowed you to have your master’s harem as your own harem]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
וָאֶתְּנָ֣ה לְךָ֔ אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וִֽיהוּדָ֑ה
(Some words not found in UHB: and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your and=DOM women/wives_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your in,bosom_of,your and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of Yisrael and=Yəhūdāh/(Yihudah) and=if too_little and,I_will_add to,you like,those and,like,those )
Here, house means all the people descended from a particular person. It envisions them as if they were one household living together. So the house of Israel and Judah figuratively means all the people descended from the patriarch Jacob, who was also known as Israel, including specifically those descended from his son Judah. Alternate translation: [and I made you the king of the people of Israel and Judah]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וְאֹסִ֥פָה לְּךָ֖ כָּהֵ֥נָּה וְכָהֵֽנָּה
and,I_will_add (Some words not found in UHB: and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your and=DOM women/wives_of your(pl)_master(s)_of,your in,bosom_of,your and,I,gave to/for=yourself(m) DOM house_of Yisrael and=Yəhūdāh/(Yihudah) and=if too_little and,I_will_add to,you like,those and,like,those )
Here, like them and like them was a common expression that described unspecified things similar to ones just mentioned. If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [then I would have given to you even more of such things]
OET (OET-LV) And_I_gave to/for_yourself(m) DOM the_house_of your(pl)_master(s)_of_your and_DOM the_wives_of your(pl)_master(s)_of_your in_bosom_of_your and_I_gave to/for_yourself(m) DOM the_house_of Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) and_Yəhūdāh/(Yihudah) and_if little and_I_will_add to_you like_those and_like_those.
OET (OET-RV) I gave you the house that belonged to your master, as well as his wives. I made you king over both Yisrael and Yehudah. And if that wasn’t enough, I’ve given you more and more.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
