22:1-23 Saul’s character becomes evident here. Unable to exact revenge on David himself, Saul slaughtered those he believed to be guilty of giving aid and comfort to David.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / reduplication
כִּֽי־הַגֵּ֥ד יַגִּ֖יד לְשָׁא֑וּל
that/for/because/then/when that/for/because/then/when to_tell he_would_tell to,Saul
David is repeating forms of the verb “declare” in order to intensify his expression of the idea that it conveys. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the intensification. Alternate translation: [that he would certainly declare to Saul]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
אָנֹכִ֣י סַבֹּ֔תִי בְּכָל־נֶ֖פֶשׁ בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽיךָ
I responsible in=all creature house_of I_will_show=you(ms)
David is using the word turned in the same sense as in [22:17](../22/17.md) and [22:18](../22/18.md), speaking as if he himself had actively killed all of Abiathar’s relatives. He means that he is responsible for their deaths. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [I myself am responsible for the deaths of every soul of the house of your father]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / synecdoche
בְּכָל־נֶ֖פֶשׁ בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽיךָ
in=all creature house_of I_will_show=you(ms)
David is using one part of a person, the soul, to mean the whole person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [every person in the house of your father] or [every one of your relatives]
