ὡς πρόβατον ἐπὶ σφαγὴν ἤχθη

This a quotation from Isaiah [53:7–8](../../isa/53/07.md). It describes the Messiah, whom Isaiah calls “the servant of the Lord.” But since the Ethiopian official did not know whom Isaiah was describing and had to ask Philip, it would be better not to specify that at this point by saying, for example, “The Messiah was led like a sheep to the slaughter” or “The servant of the Lord was led like a sheep to the slaughter”

A shearer is a person who cuts the wool off the sheep so that it may be used. If your readers would not be familiar with this word and you have no comparable word in your language, you could express the meaning in another way. Alternate translation: [is silent while its wool is being cut off]
