OET (OET-LV) in_order_that the message of_ the _Yaʸsous may_be_fulfilled, that he_spoke, signifying by_what death he_was_going to_be_dying_off.
Note 1 topic: writing-background
In this verse John interrupts the main storyline in order to provide some background information about Jesus predicting how he would die. Use the natural form in your language for expressing background information.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
ἵνα ὁ λόγος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ πληρωθῇ
in_order_that the word ¬the ˱of˲_Jesus /may_be/_fulfilled
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “This happened in order to fulfill the word of Jesus”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
σημαίνων ποίῳ θανάτῳ ἤμελλεν ἀποθνῄσκειν
signifying ˱by˲_what death ˱he˲_/was/_going /to_be/_dying_off
Here, kind of death refers to the manner in which Jesus would die. If this might confuse your readers, you could express the meaning explicitly. Alternate translation: “to indicate in what manner he was about to die”
18:1-40 After completing his farewell in the upper room (13:31–17:26), Jesus left the city and entered a garden just east of Jerusalem to pray. Here he was arrested, taken under guard into the city, and interrogated by the Jewish leaders. The climactic “time” that Jesus referred to repeatedly throughout the Gospel (see 2:4; see also study note on 12:23) was now at hand.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
