OET (OET-LV) For/Because the eager_expectation of_the creation, the revelation of_the sons of_ the _god is_eagerly_waiting.
OET (OET-RV) because all of creation is eagerly expecting and waiting for God’s children to be revealed.
In this section Paul said that the things that cause us suffering are only small compared to the glory that God will give us in the future, renewed world. The created world waits for God to reveal us, his adopted children, in our new bodies, because he will also renew the created world at that time. We and the created world groan waiting for that renewal. Paul then described what hope is.
The Holy Spirit helps us where we are weak. He also helps us to pray and intercedes for us. God causes all things to work for our good. He chose us to become like Jesus in word and deed, and become like him like a brother is like his brother. He chose us before the creation of the world, called us, made us righteous, and has glorified us.
Here are other possible headings for this section:
We wait for God to give glory to us
Later we will be together with God in his glory
The Holy Spirit helps us today and God will glorify us in the future
The creation waits in eager expectation
For creation waits with eager desire
In fact, all things that God made/created are like a person wanting very much and waiting eagerly
The Greek of 8:19a begins with the same word that the BSB omitted in 8:18a, which is usually translated as “For.” This word introduces a sentence that supports what Paul said in 8:18.Moo (on TW) and Cranfield (page 410). In some languages, it may be more natural to omit this word and leave the connection with 8:18c implicit, as the BSB does.
The creation waits in eager expectation: These words are a figure of speech. Some languages cannot speak of creation waiting like a person waits. If that is true in your language, add the word “like.” For example:
the creation is like a person waiting in eager expectation
The creation: This phrase refers to all that God made. Here it probably implies not counting people or angels. See how you translated this word in 1:20.
eager: This word refers to being interested in something happening and wanting it to happen soon. See how you translated this word in 1:15.
expectation: Here this word refers to wanting something to happen.
for the revelation of the sons of God.
for the day when the children of God will be revealed.
for the time when God will show how his children will be glorified.
the revelation of the sons of God: This refers to believers being glorified (8:17). It probably implies when believers get glorified bodies. What the glorified bodies are is not known, but will be revealed at this time.
In some languages it is more natural to translate the revelation of as a clause with a verb. For example:
when God will reveal the glorified sons of God
the sons of God: The word sons refers to all believers, men and women, boys and girls, as it did in 8:15. 8:16 has “children of God.”

γὰρ
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἡ Γάρ ἀποκαραδοκία τῆς κτίσεως τήν ἀποκάλυψιν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀπεκδέχεται)
For indicates how what follows this word relates to what came before it. Here, it indicates that this verse gives additional support for what Paul said in [8:17](../08/17.md). If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a different expression. Alternate translation: [In fact,]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
ἡ & ἀποκαραδοκία τῆς κτίσεως & ἀπεκδέχεται
the & eager_expectation ˱of˲_the creation & ˓is˒_eagerly_waiting
Here, the eager expectation is an idiom Paul uses to emphasize how eagerly the creation is waiting. He does not mean that the eager expectation itself is waiting. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [the creation is very eagerly expecting] or [the creation is eagerly expecting with much eagerness]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / personification
ἡ & ἀποκαραδοκία τῆς κτίσεως & ἀπεκδέχεται
the & eager_expectation ˱of˲_the creation & ˓is˒_eagerly_waiting
Here Paul speaks of the creation as if it were a person who eagerly expects something. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a simile. Alternate translation: [it is as if the creation is eagerly expecting with eager expectation]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
τῆς κτίσεως & τὴν ἀποκάλυψιν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ
˱of˲_the creation & (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἡ Γάρ ἀποκαραδοκία τῆς κτίσεως τήν ἀποκάλυψιν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀπεκδέχεται)
If your language does not use abstract nouns for the ideas of creation and revelation, you could express the same ideas in another way. Alternate translation: [of the created things … the sons of God to be revealed]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
τὴν ἀποκάλυψιν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἡ Γάρ ἀποκαραδοκία τῆς κτίσεως τήν ἀποκάλυψιν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀπεκδέχεται)
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [for the time when God will reveal his sons]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ
˱of˲_the sons ¬the ˱of˲_God
See how you translated this phrase in [8:14](../08/14.md).
OET (OET-LV) For/Because the eager_expectation of_the creation, the revelation of_the sons of_ the _god is_eagerly_waiting.
OET (OET-RV) because all of creation is eagerly expecting and waiting for God’s children to be revealed.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
