TSNTyndale Study Notes:

3:22-36 John the Baptist identifies Jesus as the one who is truly from above (3:31); this requires John’s followers to shift their allegiance to Jesus.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: guidelines-sonofgodprinciples

Πατὴρ & Υἱόν

Father & Son

Father and Son are important titles that describe the relationship between God and Jesus.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

πάντα δέδωκεν ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ

all_‹things› /has/_given in the hand ˱of˲_him

Here, giving into his hand means putting under his power or control. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express this plainly. Alternate translation: “has given him control over everything”
