OET (OET-LV)And_called this to this and_saying(ms) is_holy holy holy YHWH hosts the_fullness of_all_of the_earth/land glory_of_his.

OET (OET-RV)They were calling out to each other,
⇔ “Army commander Yahweh is holy, yes, fully holy.
⇔ The whole earth is filled with his splendour.”

uW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) Each one called to another and said

(Some words not found in UHB: and, called this to/towards this and=saying(ms) holy holy holy YHWH armies/messengers full all the=earth/land glory_of,his )

Alternate translation: “The seraphim called out to one another and said” or “The winged creatures proclaimed to one another”

(Occurrence 0) Holy, holy, holy, is Yahweh of hosts

(Some words not found in UHB: and, called this to/towards this and=saying(ms) holy holy holy YHWH armies/messengers full all the=earth/land glory_of,his )

Repeating the word “holy” three times indicates God is completely holy. Alternate translation: “Yahweh of hosts is holy beyond all else” or “Yahweh of hosts is completely holy”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

(Occurrence 0) The whole earth is full of his glory

(Some words not found in UHB: and, called this to/towards this and=saying(ms) holy holy holy YHWH armies/messengers full all the=earth/land glory_of,his )

This speaks of the earth as if it were a container and glory were the contents in the container. Alternate translation: “Everything on the earth is evidence of God’s glory”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

6:3 The triple usage of the word holy emphasizes the absolute separateness of the Lord.
• The whole earth is filled: Because there is no verb in the Hebrew, two slightly different translations of the seraphim’s proclamation are possible. It could be that the earth, though defiled, is currently filled with his glory in creation. Or, it could mean that the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord when he establishes his kingship on the earth in the future. Either way, the Lord’s glorious presence will one day dwell more fully on earth, despite humanity’s sinfulness and the power of wicked nations. God’s glory was further revealed in the incarnation of the Son (John 12:41; 2 Cor 3:18; 4:4-7).
