OET (OET-LV)Seraphim were_standing from_above to_him/it six wings six wings belonged_to_one with_two_wings he_covered face_of_his and_with_two_wings he_covered feet_of_his and_with_two_wings he_flew.

OET (OET-RV)There were ‘serafs’ standing above him. They each had six wings—they used two to cover their faces, two to cover their feet, and two to fly with.

uW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) Above him were the seraphim

(Some words not found in UHB: seraphs stood from,above to=him/it six wings six wings [belonged]_to,one with,two_[wings] covered face_of,his and,with,two_[wings] covered feet_of,his and,with,two_[wings] let_him/it_fly )

The word “seraphim” is the plural of seraph. This means the Lord was seated on the throne and the seraphim were standing or flying near the Lord ready to serve him.

Note 1 topic: translate-unknown

(Occurrence 0) seraphim

(Some words not found in UHB: seraphs stood from,above to=him/it six wings six wings [belonged]_to,one with,two_[wings] covered face_of,his and,with,two_[wings] covered feet_of,his and,with,two_[wings] let_him/it_fly )

This word suggests that the creatures might have a fiery appearance or resemble snakes. Because we do not know exactly what “seraphim” means, you could translate this as “winged creatures” or “winged living things.” Or, you can borrow the word and use it in your language. (See also: translate-transliterate)

(Occurrence 0) each one had six wings

(Some words not found in UHB: seraphs stood from,above to=him/it six wings six wings [belonged]_to,one with,two_[wings] covered face_of,his and,with,two_[wings] covered feet_of,his and,with,two_[wings] let_him/it_fly )

Alternate translation: “each seraph had six wings” or “each creature had six wings”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

(Occurrence 0) with two each covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew

(Some words not found in UHB: seraphs stood from,above to=him/it six wings six wings [belonged]_to,one with,two_[wings] covered face_of,his and,with,two_[wings] covered feet_of,his and,with,two_[wings] let_him/it_fly )

The words “wings” and “seraph” are understood. Alternate translation: “with two wings each seraph covered his face, and with two wings he covered his feet, and with two wings he flew”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

6:2 The mighty seraphim are heavenly beings not mentioned elsewhere in Scripture (but see also Rev 4:6-9; 15:8). The Hebrew term might suggest an association with fire. They covered their faces so as not to look on God.
