TSNTyndale Study Notes:

29:21-25 Sacrifices followed the speeches and prayers at Solomon’s coronation. Solomon and Zadok were anointed, and Solomon acceded to the throne. Zadok was not beginning his priestly role but was being dedicated to serve in the Temple itself. (The descendants of Zadok are mentioned in Ezek 40:46; 43:19; 44:15; 48:11.)

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

(Occurrence 0) Then Solomon sat on Yahweh’s throne as king instead of David his father

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_sat_down//remained//lived Shəlomoh on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in throne YHWH as,king in_place_of Dāvid his/its=father and,prospered and,obeyed to=him/it all/each/any/every Yisrael )

Here the throne of Israel is referred to as “Yahweh’s throne,” to emphasize that the people of Israel are Yahweh’s people. Sitting on the throne represents ruling as king. Alternate translation: “So Solomon sat on the throne, instead of his father David, as king over Yahweh’s people”
