BrTrAnd I will be very angry with them in that day, and I will leave them and turn my face away from them, and they shall be devoured; and many evils and afflictions shall come upon them; and they shall say in that day, Because the Lord my God is not with me, these evils have come upon me.

ULTAnd, on that day, my nose will burn against them, and I will forsake them and hide my face from them, and they will be devoured, and many disasters and troubles will find them. And they will say on that day, ‘Have not these disasters found us because my God is not in my midst?’

USTWhen that happens, I will become very angry with them. I will abandon them and refuse to help them any longer. Many bad things will happen to them, and they will be destroyed. Then they will say among themselves, ‘These things are happening to us because our God is no longer with us.’

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

31:1-29 For covenant documents to have abiding authority and relevance, they must be kept perpetually in a place where both parties could have easy access to them. The book of Deuteronomy had to be preserved for future reference so that Israel would always be reminded to submit to the Lord’s sovereignty.
