TSNTyndale Study Notes:

2:1-25 Chapter 1 established the need for rescue; ch 2 describes the preparation of Moses, the rescuer. God used the destruction of the Hebrew boy babies to ensure that the rescuer would be trained (see study note on 2:10) for his task.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

אִ֣ישׁ מִצְרִ֔י

(a)_man from_Miʦrayim/(Miʦrayim/(Egypt))

Jethro’s daughters assume Moses was Egyptian. When you translate it, you should be clear that this refers to Moses.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

מִיַּ֣ד

from,hand

Here, hand refers to the power, control, or actions of the shepherds. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternative translation: “from the strength of” or “from the harm of”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

דָּלֹ֤ה דָלָה֙

to_draw drew_water

This expresses surprise or emphasizes the magnitude of Moses’ act of kindness to the women. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression from your language.
