Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

33:12-23 Moses begged for God to go with him and the people to the Promised Land. In these verses the word personally (33:14-15) usually reflects a Hebrew term literally rendered face. Moses wanted to continue experiencing the “face to face” relationship he had begun to have (33:11). He also wanted the people to have that experience in some sense.

אִם־אֵ֤ין פָּנֶ֨יךָ֙ הֹלְכִ֔ים
if not presence_of,your go
If your face is not going is a hypothetical situation in which Moses makes a request that they not go anywhere without Yahweh. In some languages you may need to place the request first. Alternate translation: [Do not take us up from here if your face is not going]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
אִם־אֵ֤ין פָּנֶ֨יךָ֙ הֹלְכִ֔ים
if not presence_of,your go
Yahweh’s face represents his presence, which represents himself. Alternate translation: [If you are not going]
