Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

23:1-29 Thanks to informants (23:7, 13), Saul was able to stay on David’s trail. David also had informants, allowing him to keep one step ahead of Saul (23:1, 9, 15, 25). David’s chief advantage was access to divine guidance and resources (23:2, 4, 12), which Saul lacked.
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
מַהֲרָ֣ה וְלֵ֔כָה כִּֽי־פָשְׁט֥וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ
hurry, and,come, that/for/because/then/when made_a_raid Fəlishtiy on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the=earth/land
If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [Since the Philistines have raided against the land, hurry and go]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / hendiadys
מַהֲרָ֣ה וְלֵ֔כָה
hurry, and,come,
This expression conveys a single idea by using two words connected with and. The word hurry tells in what way the messenger wants Saul to go. Alternate translation: [Go hurriedly]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / go
מַהֲרָ֣ה וְלֵ֔כָה
hurry, and,come,
In this context, your language might say “come” instead of go. Alternate translation: [Hurry and come] or [Come hurriedly]
