OET (OET-LV)For/Because he_had_known the one giving_ him _over, because_of this he_said, that You_all_are not all clean.

OET (OET-RV)He said this last bit because he already knew who was going to hand him over.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-background

Here John interrupts the story to give the reason why Jesus made his comment in the end of the previous verse. Use the natural form in your language for expressing background information.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

οὐχὶ πάντες καθαροί ἐστε

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ᾔδει Γάρ τόν παραδιδόντα αὐτόν διά τοῦτο εἶπεν ὅτι οὐχί πάντες καθαροί Ἐστέ)

See how you translated clean in the previous verse. Alternate translation: [Not all of you have received God’s forgiveness]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

13:1-38 The setting is Jesus’ final Passover meal on Thursday evening, when Judas Iscariot betrays Jesus. John does not record the meal itself as the synoptic Gospels do (Matt 26:17-29; Mark 14:12-25; Luke 22:7-20; see also 1 Cor 11:23-26). John emphasizes other activities at the event, such as the foot washing (John 13:1-17), Judas’s betrayal (13:18-30), and the prediction of Peter’s denials (13:31-38).

OET (OET-RV)He said this last bit because he already knew who was going to hand him over.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
