TSNTyndale Study Notes:

18:1-32 The instructions given here arose from the need demonstrated in ch 17 for clear boundaries between the people and the priests and Levites. The distinctive privileges of the Levites were matched by significant responsibilities. One very important aspect of their work was to safeguard the Tabernacle from unauthorized entry (ch 16).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / you

(Occurrence 0) They must join you

(Some words not found in UHB: and,join to,you and,keep DOM duties tent/house meeting to=all/each/any/every service the,tent and,outsider not come_near to,you_all )

Alternate translation: “They” refers to members of the tribe of Levi; the word “you” is singular and refers to Aaron.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / you

(Occurrence 0) not come near you

(Some words not found in UHB: and,join to,you and,keep DOM duties tent/house meeting to=all/each/any/every service the,tent and,outsider not come_near to,you_all )

Here “you” is plural and refers to both Aaron and the rest of the Levites.
