OET (OET-LV)The_pleasure to_almighty (cmp) you_are_righteous and_if profit (cmp) you_make_blameless ways_your.

OET (OET-RV)Does it give pleasure to the provider if you’re innocent?
 ⇔ Will he benefit if you’re blameless in your actions?

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

הַחֵ֣פֶץ לְ֭שַׁדַּי כִּ֣י תִצְדָּ֑ק וְאִם־בֶּ֝֗צַע כִּֽי־תַתֵּ֥ם דְּרָכֶֽיךָ

the,pleasure to,Almighty that/for/because/then/when righteous and=if gain that/for/because/then/when make_~_blameless ways,your

Eliphaz is using the question form for emphasis. If you would not use the question form for that purpose in your language, you could translate these questions as statements or as exclamations. Alternate translation: “It is not pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous! It is not gain to him that you perfect your ways!”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

וְאִם־בֶּ֝֗צַע כִּֽי־תַתֵּ֥ם דְּרָכֶֽיךָ

and=if gain that/for/because/then/when make_~_blameless ways,your

Eliphaz is using the word if to introduce a question that anticipates a negative answer. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could indicate this in your translation. Alternate translation: “it is not gain to him that you perfect your ways, is it”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

דְּרָכֶֽיךָ

ways,your

Job is speaking of how a person lives as if that were a series of ways or paths that the person was walking along. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “your manner of life”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

22:2-3 Eliphaz did not understand that God would gain pleasure from Job’s righteousness (1:8; 2:3), as he does from every righteous person (1 Chr 29:17; Ps 147:10-11; Prov 11:1, 20; 12:22). God would also gain glory from Job’s steadfast faith, which emphasized the lie behind Satan’s challenge (Job 1:9-12; 2:4-6).
• Job steadfastly claimed that he was perfect (23:10-12), as did God himself (1:1, 8; 2:3).
