OET (OET-LV)Blessed are the gentle, because they will_be_inheriting the earth.

OET (OET-RV)Those who are gentle are blessed, because they will inherit the earth.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result

μακάριοι οἱ πραεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν

blessed_‹are› the gentle because they (Some words not found in SR-GNT: μακάριοι οἱ πραεῖς ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὴν γῆν)

If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these clauses, since the second clause gives the reason for the result that the first clause describes. Alternate translation: “The meek will inherit the earth, so they are blessed”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

μακάριοι

blessed_‹are›

See how you translated this phrase in 5:3. Alternate translation: “God will bless” or “How good it is for”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / nominaladj

οἱ πραεῖς

the gentle

Jesus is using the adjective meek as a noun to mean meek people. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you could translate this word with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: “meek people”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

κληρονομήσουσι

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: μακάριοι οἱ πραεῖς ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὴν γῆν)

Here the author speaks as if the meek were children who would receive property from a relative. He speaks in this way to indicate that the meek will receive the earth from God. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “will receive” or “will be given”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

τὴν γῆν

the earth

Here Jesus refers to the whole earth, but he implies that it will be the renewed or recreated earth. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this idea more explicit. Alternate translation: “the renewed earth” or “the recreated earth”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

5:5 those who are humble: See Ps 37:11, which Jesus practically quotes here. Elsewhere, Jesus describes himself in similar terms—in contrast to other teachers (Matt 11:29) and as one who shuns pride (12:17-21; 21:5). This trait of Jesus is exemplified in his death on the cross (1 Pet 2:23; 3:9).
• The whole earth could also be rendered the land, thus referring to God’s promise of land to Abraham and his descendants (Gen 12:7; 17:8; see Isa 60:21). A wider sense may also be intended, such as God’s reign over the entire earth (Matt 19:28; 28:18-20; Ps 115:16).
