33.6 Vivat Ruben. Prædicta salute primitivæ Ecclesiæ, singulis tribubus proprias benedictiones tribuit; veros Isrælitas de utroque populo prænuntians, nunc de Christo, nunc de apostolis, nunc de primitiva, nunc de tota Ecclesia vaticinatur. Vivat Ruben.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

33:6 Moses said this about the tribe of Reuben: The NLT adds this line for clarity (cp. 33:7, 8, 12, etc.).
• Reuben was Jacob’s eldest son by Leah (see Gen 29:32). His sin against his father (Gen 35:22) might explain his tribe’s lack of prominence (Gen 49:3-4).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) Let Reuben live

(Some words not found in UHB: live Reuven and,not die and=let_it_be men,his few )

This begins Moses’ blessings to the individual tribes of Israel.

(Occurrence 0) but may his men be few

(Some words not found in UHB: live Reuven and,not die and=let_it_be men,his few )

Other This could mean: (1) “and may his men not be few” or (2) “even though his men are few.”
