(And Benyamin he_said: [Amantissimus Master habitabit confidenter in eo: as_if in thalamo tota day morabitur, and between shoulders illius requiescet.] )
33.12 Et Benjamin. Videtur historiæ alludere, quia Benjamin patriarcha et propheta Jacob spiritu plenus unice amabat, et dispensatione Dei, locus divino cultui mancipatus, ejus tribui custodiendus decernitur; unde addit: Quasi in thalamo tota die, etc. Amantissimus. Christus est amantissimus Dei Patris, qui de seipso ait: Hic est Filius meus dilectus Matth. 17.. Hic habitat in dextera Patris confidenter, cui dicitur: Sede a dextris meis Psal. 109.. Vel maritali connubio mira oblectatione perfruens, et virtutum prole fecundans, nulliusque vitii inquietudine secretum placidissimi pectoris derelinquens; vel in ea quasi in thalamo residens, tanquam sponsus speciosus, virgineas credentium mentes per prædicationem ejus suis jungit amplexibus. Unde: Adducentur regi virgines post eam Psal. 43.. Ipse quoque ait: Despondi enim vos uni viro virginem castam exhibere Christo II Cor. 11.. Divinitas quoque in humanitate Christi habitat confidenter. In thalamo morabitur, significat quod in utero Virginis cœlesti sponso juncta est Ecclesia, quæ in fortitudine potentiæ Christi et in operibus fiducialiter requiescit. Et inter humeros illius requiscet. Humeris onera portantur, ideo in eis robusta patientia designatur. Tanto autem libentius Christus in illo requievit, quanto pro ipso durissimos labores toleravit: tanto arctius amplexus est, quanto ab illius amplexu nullo terrore avulsus est. Unde ait: Quis nos separabit a charitate Christi? Rom. 8.
33.12 And Benyamin. Videtur historiæ alludere, because Benyamin patriarcha and a_prophet Yacob spiritu plenus unice amabat, and dispensatione of_God, locus divino cultui mancipatus, his tribui custodiendus decernitur; whence addit: Quasi in thalamo tota die, etc. Amantissimus. Hic habitat in dextera Patris confidenter, cui it_is_said: Sede from on_the_right meis Psal. 109.. Aliter: Benyamin, about filio doloris filius dextræ dictus, exprimit Paulum about persecutore apostolum and vas electionis factum: exactly_that/himself because about hac tribu fuit; dignum however was as like Master præcursor prophetali oraculo prædictus it_is, ita magister gentium universo mundo profuturus, between magna Ecclesiæ mysteria prædicaretur. Vel maritali connubio mira oblectatione perfruens, and virtutum prole fecundans, nulliusque vitii inquietudine secretum placidissimi pectoris derelinquens; or in ea as_if in thalamo residens, tanquam sponsus speciosus, virgineas credentium mentes through prælet_him_sayionem his to_his_own yungit amplexibus. Whence: Adducentur regi virgines after eam Psal. 43.. Exactly_that too he_said: Despondi because you uni to_the_man virginem castam exhibere Christo II Cor. 11.. Divinitas too in humanitate of_Christ habitat confidenter. In thalamo morabitur, significat that in utero Virginis cœlesti sponso yuncta it_is Ecclesia, which in fortitudine potentiæ of_Christ and in operibus fiducialiter requiescit. And between shoulders illius requiscet. Humeris onera portantur, ideo in to_them robusta patientia designatur. Unde he_said: Who we separabit from charitate of_Christ? Rom. 8.
33:12 Benjamin was Jacob’s youngest son (Gen 35:18; 49:27). Because Rachel was Jacob’s favorite wife, Benjamin was also favored. His tribe was blessed by the Lord’s special protection.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
Moses continues to bless the tribes of Israel; the blessings are short poems.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
(Occurrence 0) The one loved by Yahweh lives
(Some words not found in UHB: of,Benjamin he/it_had_said beloved YHWH rests in,safety on/upon/above=him/it shields on/upon/above=him/it all/each/any/every the=day and=between shoulders,his rests )
Here Moses is referring to the members of the tribe of Benjamin. If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “The ones whom Yahweh loves live”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
(Occurrence 0) lives in security
(Some words not found in UHB: of,Benjamin he/it_had_said beloved YHWH rests in,safety on/upon/above=him/it shields on/upon/above=him/it all/each/any/every the=day and=between shoulders,his rests )
The abstact noun “security” can be translated using a verbal phrase. Alternate translation: “lives where no one can harm him”
(Occurrence 0) he lives between Yahweh’s arms
(Some words not found in UHB: of,Benjamin he/it_had_said beloved YHWH rests in,safety on/upon/above=him/it shields on/upon/above=him/it all/each/any/every the=day and=between shoulders,his rests )
This could mean: (1) Yahweh protects the tribe of Benjamin with his power or (2) Yahweh lives in the hill region of the tribe of Benjamin. In both translations, it means Yahweh takes care of them.
