OET (OET-LV) And then they_will_be_seeing the son of_ the _Man, coming in a_cloud with power and great glory.
OET (OET-RV) Then they’ll see humanity’s child coming down in a cloud with power and great brightness.
After the events of the preceding section, some of Jesus’ disciples were admiring the beautiful stones and gifts that people used to adorn the Temple. Jesus told them that one day the Temple would be completely destroyed. Enemies would attack Jerusalem and destroy the Temple. In A.D. 70, the Jews rebelled against the Romans, and the Roman destroyed the temple. Jesus also told them about other things that would happen in the future. He told them that after these things happened, he would return to earth in power and great glory. He warned his disciples to pray so that they would be able to endure the future troubles and be ready to meet him when he comes again.
It is good to translate this section before you decide on a heading for it. Some examples of other headings are:
The Jerusalem temple would soon be destroyed
The destruction of the temple and the coming times of trouble
There are parallel passages for this section in Matthew 24:1–35 and Mark 13:1–31.
At that time they will see the Son of Man
Then people everywhere will see the Son of Man,
At that time people everywhere will see me, the Son of Man.
At that time I, the Son of Man, will appear to all people,
At that time: The Greek phrase that the BSB translates as At that time is literally “And then,” as in the RSV. This phrase introduces a very important event in Jesus’ prophecy: the Son of Man will appear in power and glory. Introduce this event in a natural way in your language.
they will see the Son of Man: The pronoun they refers to people in general. It also implies that people everywhere will see him. Some other ways to translate this are:
Use a subject that will clearly refer to everyone. For example:
people everywhere will see the Son of Man
everyone will see the Son of Man
Use a passive clause. For example:
the Son of Man will be seen (CEV)
the Son of Man will appear (GNT)
the Son of Man: The phrase the Son of Man was a title that Jesus often used to refer to himself. See the note on 17:22a–b for translation suggestions. For more information, see also “Son of Man” in KBT.
coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
coming to earth on/in a cloud with power and great glory.
I will come to earth surrounded by clouds, showing great power and radiant/brilliant splendor.
and I will come in a cloud, with/possessing divine majesty and the authority to rule everyone.
coming in a cloud: In the Old Testament a cloud often symbolized God’s presence, power, and glory. In the parallel verse in Mark 13:26, the plural form “clouds” is used. Mark 14:62 also indicates that Jesus will come on clouds of heaven. The plural form occurs in a similar context in Daniel 7:13, which indicates that the clouds were near the throne of God. Other ways to translate in a cloud are:
surrounded by a cloud
with a cloud
coming being-accompanied-by the cloudsKankanaey back translation on TW.
coming: The word coming can also be translated as “arriving” or “approaching.”
If you need to supply a destination for the verb coming, you may use “toward the earth” or “downward” or a similar expression. For example:
coming downward in a cloud
coming toward the earth
with power and great glory: In this context power refers to both the right and the ability to judge and to rule over all people.
The Greek word that the BSB translates as great glory here refers to the shining radiance that in the OT often displayed God’s greatness (for example, see Exodus 16:10, 40:34; 2 Chronicles 7:1). The brightness with which the Son of Man will come to earth will show that he is great, even as God himself is great.
Another way to translate with power and great glory is:
He will be powerful and very glorious/majestic.

ὄψονται
˱they˲_˓will_be˒_seeing
The pronoun they refers to the people of the nations, about whom Jesus has been speaking since [21:25](../21/25.md). Alternate translation: [the people of the nations will see]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person
τὸν Υἱὸν τοῦ Ἀνθρώπου
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Καί τότε ὄψονται Τόν Υἱόν τοῦ Ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐν νεφέλῃ μετά δυνάμεως καί δόξης πολλῆς)
Jesus is referring to himself in the third person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could translate this in the first person. Alternate translation: [me, the Son of Man]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Καί τότε ὄψονται Τόν Υἱόν τοῦ Ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐν νεφέλῃ μετά δυνάμεως καί δόξης πολλῆς)
This phrase expresses a single idea by using two words connected with and. The term glory describes what kind of power Jesus will have. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the meaning with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: [with very glorious power] or [shining brightly because he is so powerful] or, if you decided to use the first person, [shining brightly because I am so powerful]

21:5-38 When Jesus predicted the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem (21:6), his disciples questioned when it would take place and what signs would accompany it (21:7). Jesus responded by describing the events surrounding the destruction of the Temple and the return of the Son of Man (21:8-36). This sermon is known as the Olivet Discourse because the Mount of Olives was the site of Jesus’ teaching (see Matt 24:3; Mark 13:3).
OET (OET-LV) And then they_will_be_seeing the son of_ the _Man, coming in a_cloud with power and great glory.
OET (OET-RV) Then they’ll see humanity’s child coming down in a cloud with power and great brightness.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
