uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

וְהִכֵּ֔יתִי

and,attack

In this context, the author is using the term strike to mean “attack.” It does not necessarily have the specific sense here of “kill,” as it does elsewhere in the book. Alternate translation: [and attack]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

23:1-29 Thanks to informants (23:7, 13), Saul was able to stay on David’s trail. David also had informants, allowing him to keep one step ahead of Saul (23:1, 9, 15, 25). David’s chief advantage was access to divine guidance and resources (23:2, 4, 12), which Saul lacked.

¶ “Go and attack the Philistines and save Ke’ilah,” Yahweh responded.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
