28:1-43 These glorious and beautiful (28:2) garments for Aaron were to distinguish him as a priest set apart (Hebrew qadash, “consecrated”) for [the Lord’s] service (28:3). The magnificence of these garments is in keeping with the grandeur of the Tabernacle, which functioned as a portable earthly palace for God. There would come a day when Jesus Christ, the true High Priest, would enter the Most Holy Place once for all, and the distinction between priests and people would fade away (Heb 10:11-22). Until that time, human mediators were needed to symbolize the wonderful thing that God was planning to do in the hearts, lives, and behaviors of those with whom he shared his presence.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
וְנִשְׁמַ֣ע ק֠וֹלוֹ
and,heard sound,its
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “so that the bells make a sound”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
לִפְנֵ֧י יְהוָ֛ה
to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH
Here, face represents the presence of Yahweh. Alternate translation: “before Yahweh”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person
יְהוָ֛ה
YHWH
Here, Yahweh refers to himself in the third person. If this is confusing in your language, you may use the first person. Alternate translation: “me”
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וְלֹ֥א יָמֽוּת
and=not die
The probable implication is that he would die because he did not obey Yahweh. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could express that explicitly. Alternate translation: “As a result, he will not die because of disobeying my instructions”
