TSNTyndale Study Notes:

14:29 made trouble: Joshua had used this verb in speaking with Achan (Josh 7:25), and Jephthah had used it with his innocent daughter (Judg 11:35). Saul’s foolish oath limited Israel’s victory (1 Sam 14:30) and put his son’s life at risk (see also Josh 6:18; 1 Chr 2:7).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ

DOM the=earth/land

See how you translated this same expression in [14:25](../14/25.md). Alternate translation: [us Israelite soldiers]

Note 2 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result

אֹ֣רוּ עֵינַ֔י כִּ֣י טָעַ֔מְתִּי מְעַ֖ט דְּבַ֥שׁ הַזֶּֽה

brightened eyes_of,my that/for/because/then/when tasted a_little_of honey the,this

If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [because I have tasted a little of this honey, my eyes have brightened]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

אֹ֣רוּ עֵינַ֔י כִּ֣י טָעַ֔מְתִּי מְעַ֖ט דְּבַ֥שׁ הַזֶּֽה

brightened eyes_of,my that/for/because/then/when tasted a_little_of honey the,this

Jonathan assumes that this soldier will understand that he means that the brightening of his eyes shows that eating the honey has restored some of his strength. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [my eyes have brightened, showing that eating the honey has restored some of my strength]
