OET (OET-RV)Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (also called Zoar) went out into the Siddim Valley and arranged their troops for battle

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-words-phrases

וַיֵּצֵ֨א

and=he/it_went_out

Verse 8 is talking about the same battle that is mentioned in verse 2, except it leaves out the names of the kings. Make sure in your translation that it does not sound like a different battle.

מֶֽלֶךְ סְדֹ֜ם וּמֶ֣לֶךְ עֲמֹרָ֗ה וּמֶ֤לֶךְ אַדְמָה֙ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ צְבוֹיִ֔ם וּמֶ֥לֶךְ בֶּ֖לַע

king Şədom and,king ˊAmorāh and,king Admah and,king (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_went_out king Şədom and,king ˊAmorāh and,king Admah and,king Zeboiim and,king Belaˊ who/which Zoar and,joined with=them battle in/on/at/with,valley the,Siddim )

Be consistent in verse 8 with how you spelled the names of these cities in verse 2 and in Gen 10:19. Alternate translation: “the kings over the cities of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Bela,”

הִוא צֹ֑עַר

who/which Zoar

See how you translated this phrase in verse 2. Alternate translation: “which is now called Zoar,” or “that is, Zoar,”

וַיֵּצֵ֨א

and=he/it_went_out

Alternate translation: “went out with their armies”

בְּעֵ֖מֶק הַשִּׂדִּֽים

in/on/at/with,valley the,Siddim

See how you translated this phrase in verse 3.

וַיַּֽעַרְכ֤וּ אִתָּם֙ מִלְחָמָ֔ה

and,joined with=them battle

The Hebrew text is ambiguous here. It could mean: (1) “and assembled/prepared/positioned themselves for battle” or “and got ready to fight” or (2) “and joined/united together in battle”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

14:1-16 In this skirmish typical of ancient politics, powerful kings formed a coalition to subjugate smaller vassal states.
