Consider what is the best way in your language to refer to Joseph’s firstborn in these two clauses. Alternate translation: “In fact, the descendants of your firstborn son will also become a ethnic group, and he will be a great man.” or “In fact, your firstborn son will also be a important man, and he will be the ancestor of a people group.”

Alternate translation: “However, his younger brother Ephraim will be even greater than he will be,”

Make sure that your translation of this phrase refers to Ephraim’s descendants, not Manasseh’s. Alternate translation: “with many descendants, who”
יִהְיֶ֥ה מְלֹֽא הַגּוֹיִֽם
will_belong multitude the=nations
Compare how you translated a similar phrase (“a community of peoples”) in verse 4. Alternate translation: “will become many ethnic groups.”
48:1-22 In blessing Ephraim and Manasseh, Jacob reached out by faith for the promise to be continued, having learned that God’s ways are not always the ways of men. Out of Jacob’s long life, the writer to the Hebrews selected the blessing of Joseph’s sons as his great act of faith (Heb 11:21). As Jacob acted in light of God’s will, the primary blessing was again given to the younger instead of the older son, but without scheming and its bitter results.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
