OET (OET-RV)Then Yisra’el told Yosef, “Listen, I’m about to die, and God will be with you and take you back to the land of your ancestors.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-quotations

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶל יוֹסֵ֔ף

and=he/it_said Yisrael to/towards Yōşēf/(Joseph)

Alternate translation: “Next Israel spoke to Joseph. He said,”

הִנֵּ֥ה

see/lo/see!

Alternate translation: “Look”

אָנֹכִ֖י מֵ֑ת

Alternate translation: “I will die soon,”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular

וְהָיָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ עִמָּכֶ֔ם

and=it_was ʼElohīm with,you_all

The pronouns you and your are plural throughout this verse and probably refer to all Israel’s family, including Joseph, his brothers, and their descendants. וְהֵשִׁ֣יב אֶתְכֶ֔ם

and,bring_~_back DOM,you_all

Consider whether or not it is better in your language to begin a new sentence here. Alternate translation: “He will also bring you back”

אֶל אֶ֖רֶץ אֲבֹתֵיכֶֽם

to/towards to/towards earth/land fathers,your_all's

Alternate translation: “to the land that he gave to your forefathers”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

48:1-22 In blessing Ephraim and Manasseh, Jacob reached out by faith for the promise to be continued, having learned that God’s ways are not always the ways of men. Out of Jacob’s long life, the writer to the Hebrews selected the blessing of Joseph’s sons as his great act of faith (Heb 11:21). As Jacob acted in light of God’s will, the primary blessing was again given to the younger instead of the older son, but without scheming and its bitter results.
