7:20 OSHB note: We read one or more accents in L differently than BHS. Often this notation indicates a typographical error in BHS.
OET (OET-RV) At that time, my master will use a hired razor from beyond the Euphrates to shave the head and legs of the Assyrian king, and to remove his beard.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
יְגַלַּ֣ח אֲדֹנָי֩ בְּתַ֨עַר הַשְּׂכִירָ֜ה בְּעֶבְרֵ֤י נָהָר֙
shave my=master with,a_razor (the),hired on_[the],other_sides_of river
Isaiah is speaking of the Lord’s judgment on Judah as if he would shave it with a razor. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [the Lord will strip the land bare with a razor hired from beyond the Euphrates River]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
בְּתַ֨עַר הַשְּׂכִירָ֜ה בְּעֶבְרֵ֤י נָהָר֙
with,a_razor (the),hired on_[the],other_sides_of river
The expression hired from beyond the River is a passive verbal form. If it would be unnatural to use that form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [with a razor that someone has hired from beyond the River]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / merism
הָרֹ֖אשׁ וְשַׂ֣עַר הָרַגְלָ֑יִם
the,head and,the_hair_of of,the_feet
Isaiah is referring to the whole body by naming two extremes, the head and the hair of the feet. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [the hair of the entire body]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism
וְשַׂ֣עַר הָרַגְלָ֑יִם
and,the_hair_of of,the_feet
Isaiah is using the phrase the hair of the feet as a polite way of referring to the private parts of the body. If it would be helpful for your readers, you could use a polite way of referring to this in your language, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and the hair of the private parts]
Note 5 topic: writing-pronouns

The pronoun it refers to the razor. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [the razor will also take away the beard]

OET (OET-RV) At that time, my master will use a hired razor from beyond the Euphrates to shave the head and legs of the Assyrian king, and to remove his beard.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
