UST Ahab’s wife Jezebel murdered many of his prophets and many other Israelites who worshiped him. To punish them for these murders, Yahweh wants you to kill the entire family of Ahab. You formerly served him as a military commander.

Even though Jehu was now a military commander for Jehoram, the son of Ahab, what Jehu says in [9:25](../09/25.md) shows that earlier Jehu had been one of Ahab’s commanders. That is why Yahweh still refers to Ahab as your master when speaking to Jehu. Alternate translation: [who was your master]
