OET (OET-LV) And_now leave_alone to/for_me and_burn anger_my in/among_them and_destroy_them and_make DOM_you to_(a)_nation great.
OET (OET-RV) So leave me alone now and let my anger rage against them. I will destroy them and make you into a great nation.”
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
וְעַתָּה֙
and=now
So now is used here to mark that Yahweh’s next statements are a result of what he has said in the previous verses. Alternate translation: “Therefore”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וְיִֽחַר־אַפִּ֥י בָהֶ֖ם
and,burn anger,my in/among=them
This is an idiom meaning that Yahweh is angry. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent idiom or use plain language. Alternate translation: “And let me be angry with them”
Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns
אוֹתְךָ֖
DOM,you
Here, you refers to Moses.
32:10 Now leave me alone: This apparent command was in fact an invitation to Moses to intercede for his people. Although the people deserved destruction, God was willing not to destroy them if Moses continued to stand before him as an intercessor.
• I will make you, Moses, into a great nation: If Moses were willing, God would start over again, abandoning the rest of the children of Abraham and beginning now with the children of Moses. This was apparently a test of Moses’ understanding of God.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
