OET (OET-LV)And he_is_saying to_them:
Why are_you_all fearful, little_faith ones?
Then having_been_raised, he_gave_rebuke to_the winds and the sea, and a_ great _calm became.

OET (OET-RV)What are you worried about,”, asked Yeshua, “you who don’t have much faith. Then he stood up and told the winds and the water to stop, and the lake became very calm.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-tense

λέγει

˱he˲_/is/_saying

To call attention to a development in the story, Matthew uses the present tense in past narration. If it would not be natural to do that in your language, you could use the past tense in your translation. Alternate translation: “he said”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

τί δειλοί ἐστε, ὀλιγόπιστοι

why fearful ˱you_all˲_are little_faith_‹ones›

Jesus is using the question form to rebuke the disciples for being cowardly and for having little faith. If you would not use the question form for this purpose in your language, you could translate this as a statement or an exclamation. Alternate translation: “You should not be cowardly, you of little faith.” or “Do not be cowardly, you of little faith!”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular

ἐστε, ὀλιγόπιστοι

˱you_all˲_are little_faith_‹ones›

Here, the word you is plural because Jesus is speaking to all the disciples who are in the boat with him.

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

ὀλιγόπιστοι

little_faith_‹ones›

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of faith, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “you who believe so little”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

ἐγένετο γαλήνη μεγάλη

became /a/_calm great

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of calm, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “they became very calm”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

8:23-27 The episode at sea extends the theme of what true discipleship involves. The storm challenged the disciples to entrust their very lives to Jesus for protection and deliverance. Jesus even has authority over dangerous weather and the sea (see Job 38:8-11; Pss 29; 65:1-13; 89:9; 107:23-32).
