OET (OET-LV) Of_it_of_half he_burns in a_fire over of_it_of_half meat he_eats he_roasts roasted_meat and_he_is_satisfied also he_is_warm and_he_says aha I_am_warm I_see a_fire.
OET (OET-RV) He burns half of the wood for the fire,
⇔ and roasts meat on that half—he eats the meat and is satisfied.
⇔ He also warms himself and says ‘Aha, I’m warm,’ as he looks at the fire.
Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns
חֶצְיוֹ֙ שָׂרַ֣ף בְּמוֹ אֵ֔שׁ
of_it_of,half burns in fire
The pronoun it refers to the wood from the tree. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [Half of the wood, he burns in the fire; on half of the wood he eats meat]
Note 2 topic: writing-poetry
אֵ֔שׁ & אֽוּר
fire & fire
For poetic purposes, Isaiah is using two different words that have basically the same meaning. The ULT translates each one as fire because English does not have two different words that it can use in this context. But if your language does, it would be appropriate to use them here
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes
וְיֹאמַ֣ר הֶאָ֔ח חַמּוֹתִ֖י רָאִ֥יתִי אֽוּר
and,he_says ah warm see fire
If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [and he calls out in delight at the warmth of the fire]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / exclamations
הֶאָ֔ח חַמּוֹתִ֖י רָאִ֥יתִי אֽוּר
ah warm see fire
The man is using a phrase that expresses a strong feeling of satisfaction. There may be an equivalent word or phrase in your language that you can use in your translation to convey this feeling. Alternate translation: [I feel so warm and satisfied; I have seen the fire]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
