TSNTyndale Study Notes:

21:28-32 If an animal caused a person’s death and the owner was judged to be negligent, the relatives of the deceased could demand the death penalty for both the animal and its owner. However, that penalty was not mandatory, and the relatives could elect to accept compensation (21:30).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-bmoney

כֶּ֣סֶף׀ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שְׁקָלִ֗ים

silver thirty shekels

In ancient times, a silver shekel weighed about 11 grams or about a third of an ounce. You could try to express the equivalent in terms of modern money values, but if you did, that could cause your Bible translation to become outdated and inaccurate, since those values can change over time. Instead, you could say something general like “30 silver coins” or give the equivalent weight or use the biblical term in the text and explain the weight in a footnote. Alternate translation: “330 grams of silver”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

אִם־עֶ֛בֶד יִגַּ֥ח הַשּׁ֖וֹר

if male_slave gores the,ox

Because they are to kill the ox, the slave must have died. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could express that explicitly. Alternate translation: “If an ox kills a male servant”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

וְהַשּׁ֖וֹר יִסָּקֵֽל

and,the,ox stoned

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “you must kill the ox by stoning it”
